Hi Adriano, Rory and friends,

On Polinesio (Tiki 21') we use a flexible PVC deck tent, same way that is designed in the building plans, just 1,50 m hight from the platform floor. It works very nice at harbour, with no wind and no rain come inside. And we live aboard full time since november 2000. My wife can cook at cofortable mode, stand up on the floor of the hull, and the galley top is on the platform, just beside the hatch.

Here, inside of Parati bay with friendly winds, we sail with reefed main on the mast top and the tent up, like a bridgedeck catamaran. But to go to open sea, we drop down the tent easily unlashing three ropes.

Cheers,

You can get out and push when you run aground, the mast can be raised and lowered by one person without any fancy kit and you judge the depth of water by looking over the side.

Hi Adriano, sounds like you have had some great cruising and enjoyed life aboard your Tiki. Do you have a harbour tent to enclose your cockpit? I found it made a huge difference when I made the big tent to go on Cookie. Suddenly friends didn't have to run away when a rain shower blew in!!! I have to admit my dream boat would be a Tiki 30 with an easy to use deck tent to convert the deck into comfortable bridgedeck living in harbour. I have to admit my dream boat would be a Tiki 30 with an easy to use deck tent to convert the deck into comfortable bridgedeck living in harbour. Then to stow it away for sailing and clean open decks. This pic of the original Tiki 36 has a smart looking deck tent which could be a bigger version to go over the whole cockpit. To me this would give the large space comfort on harbour and seaworthiness of Wharrams at sea. http://www.wharram.eu/photos/index.cgi?mode=image&album=/Andy%20Smith%20Boatworks%20Philippines/Tiki%2036&image=Tiki%2036%20Deckview%201.JPG Rory

I often have a look at your pictures, dreaming on the ocean and my wife does the same. I don't believe she would be happy with 6 meters wave breaking on the deck (;)...that's way we pay attention on everything and we only sail if the wether is good and we use to sail 25 miles maximum a day: the young lady needs to play on the beach and bulid sand castel. I'm trying to convince my wife that our tiki is safer than the big and comfotable monohull caravan...sorry, boat...but it's not easy
Rory:
