Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me if they have had any experience with the Monitor windvane on their Wharram? What was your experience? In particular I am interested in the installations on the Tiki 38,,,, and even the Tiki 30. I have no experience with either boat, but I thinking that the Tiki 30 may be too small to carry this setup? Any thoughts welcomed, good or bad. Thanks.

Looking through Sailorman newsletters to find out when the Narai MK IV was introduced and any information about the design aspects talked about when was announced/introduced, but not finding it yet.

Anyone know what year the Narai MK IV was introduced, would like to read what was said about it in Sailorman.
No special reason, just interested in the history of the Narai MK IV.

Cheers, Allen

ciao a tutti. Look at the pictures. Do you think this happens because lashing is to tight and the beam can not move? grazie

Hiyas!

A general and possibly a silly sounding question.

Looking at the various designs, from Pahi 26, Tiki 26, to Tiki 30 and 38, Pahi 42, various tangaroa and narai - there are evident differences ofcourse. However, it is hard to tell how these differences translate to actual sailing experiences.

eg,

tacking abilities, speed, angles to the wind (specially close reach), storm performance and so on..

I am trying to piece together some coherent idea of how these differences work via reading a fair few posts. However all that comes seems to be vague references to the questions i have in mind.

Understandably too. Not complaining ;)

Hard to think i am the only person with these kind of questions.

Is there anywhere with some clear, possibly some kind of a graphic/chart explaining the differences?

In case there is no such information, perhaps anyone here has an idea about the differences?

Cheers and many thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have been following Wharram catamarans for 30 years +. I have purchased several study plans and now have many questions for the Tki26.

First question. What are the wooden "handles" on top of the stern and bow designed to be used for? I have never seen them employed in any particular use? Can they be used for the traveller rope? Can they be used to tie the boat up when alongside? Can they be used to tow a tide-log, or secure a fishing line?

Personally, I like to keep the boat as simple as possible, and if there is no "use" for these handles, I may elect to remove them from the build to keep the boat as simple and streamlined as possible.

What are your thoughts please?

Hey guys,

I am an amateur boat builder, carpenter by profession and started working on a single hull 21`boat more than 5 years ago but the project stopped somewhere and never found the motivation to continue it. I got new inspiration already a year ago about building one of Wharrams catamarans since I admire the catamaran physics as well as the visuals.

First I was eying on the Tiki 30 or 31. Then I read a thread in this forum, where a guy wanted to do it in strip planking and another guy mentioned about the Tama Moana which is planned as a strip planked boat.

I like the idea of strip planks a lot and wanna know, if a beautiful finished strip plank can be epoxy/cloth-finsihed transparently in order to make the beautiful woods stay visible? Is there any disadvantage? Is it possible using West System epoxy for a nice clear finish? Any comments I would appreciate.

Is it possible to use "modern" rigs in the Tama Moana?

I have Tanenui Sail number 151 plans, but I’m not seeing a lumber cut list.

Am I just not seeing it? Lol The study plans for the other boats have the lumber material list, but my study plan didn’t have it either.

I bought the plans from JWD last year, but can’t seem to find the lumber list. It must be in there somewhere & I’m just overlooking them, I would think.

Any know where that’s listed or have the cut list?
